The 3TOOL Course is designed for anyone wishing to learn/expand their knowledge specifically in Myofascial Trigger Points and using 3TOOL.

Course summary

Understanding Myofascial Trigger Points and Myofascial Pain Syndrome and the different manual and instrumental treatments that can be performed. Introduction to 3TOOL, its purpose and how it can be used.

Course structure (40 hours total)

BLOCK I - CAGE POINTS AND MYOFASCIAL PAIN (15h)
1. Introduction to Myofascial Trigger Points
- Definition and concepts of trigger point and myofascial pain syndrome
- Clinical characteristics of PGMs
o Referred pain
o Local spasm response
- Palpation of the PGM
- Differences between active and latent PGM
- PGM theories
TEACHING METHODOLOGY: Preparation of a recommended reading with references to scientific articles
EVALUATION METHODOLOGY: The student will have to answer a battery of multiple choice questions after having done the recommended reading. It will be corrected automatically. 

 

BLOCK II - TREATMENT OF PGM (10h)

2. PGM treatment
- PGM activation
- Perpetuation factors
- Conservative physiotherapy in the treatment of MMP
o Ischemic compression
o Massage
TEACHING METHODOLOGY: Preparation of a text with references to research articles that focus on
EVALUATION METHODOLOGY: The student will have to answer a battery of multiple choice questions after having done the recommended reading. It will be corrected automatically.

o PHYSIOTHERAPIES
Zone 1 
a.    Common PGM compression extender of the fingers and compression in infra-spinous.
b.    Achilles tendon friction.
c.    Massage of the thumb muscles.
Zone 2
a.    Massage on large anterior rectum and tensor fascia lata.
b.    Twin functional massage.
Zone 3
a.    Vertebral flexibility in the dorsal area.
b.    Paravertebral massage.
o PATIENTS
Zone 1
a.    PGM infra-spinous self-compression and suboccipital muscles.
b.    Anterior tibial self-massage.
Zone 2
a.    Self-massage plantar fascia.
b.    Twin functional self-massage.
Zone 3
a.    Vertebral flexibility in the dorsal area.
b.    Paravertebral massage
c.    Suboccipital relaxation
TEACHING METHODOLOGY: The teacher will prepare a power point summary with voice and video support of the entire 3TOOL curriculum.
EVALUATION METHODOLOGY
A.    Recording of a video with a new proposal of use. 
B.    Evaluation, tutorial of use, interview with a physiotherapist or patients... be original!
